I’m sure Derek will get into it, but is it even financially possible for them to field that roster above? Based on the cap outlook, it didn’t seem like it would be possible to retain Kelly, extend Yabu and Grimes, plus pay a top 6 pick.

I agree with this statement from Nurse: “the game keeps getting faster and faster and more dynamic, and just for like, really basic things, like defensive transition, or defensive rebounding.” But when he said it, I immediately thought, well, that’s not the game of a lumbering star big man with a bad knee and trouble maintaining his conditioning. How does Embiid fit into a younger, more dynamic team? I don’t think he does. He slows them down. Even when healthy, Embiid had trouble getting back in transition and boxing out. Now …? Not saying we’d be better served with washed vets than youth filling out the roster, but expecting Embiid to slot into a more dynamic team/system feels like a plan destined to fail.
