I was at the game with my son, and you’ve hit all the right notes. That was an awful game to watch. Utterly unorganized on Offense. When the subject of booing Tobi came up, I said “they’re booing the wrong guy. It wasn’t his fault they gave him a Max contract.” He was a good pro, and a better person while he was here. You won’t catch me booing him, and I’ve been an Eagles fan for 60+ years.

I know this is not actually a directionless team when the direction is have two of the 20 best players in the world lead you, but it’s gross. It’s unwatchable basketball. Maxey is good enough that now instead of rooting for him to take another magical leap, on nights like this what I want is calm stability and consistency. There’s not even the process years whiff of “at least we get to see the young guys make progress” because there’s no guarantee McCain or Ricky will be in the lineup. I have been a Kelly Oubre is overtaxed as a 10th man drum beater the whole time he’s been here. I feel like I’m watching myself be proven right and I don’t like it!

Booing Tobias Harris is the wrong kind of energy, too. The man showed up and was available basically every night and played to the best of his ability. His ability was below the value of the contract but cheer him for getting that cash don’t boo him for the front office whiffing on the deal. 18 points on 18 shots 0-3 from 3 is such a classic Tobi line, too. He gave you the exact thing you got every night for 5 years!

Tobias doesn’t deserve the constant boos. He’s a guy with flaws in his game who wasn’t able to adapt to be what the team needed, but it’s not his fault the team gave up all their leverage and basically had to give him a max contract. He played hard/played hurt and was a class act off the court. With all that being said, thank God he’s not a Sixer anymore.
