I appreciate the thoughts in the article, but your ignoring the history of Jeff Stoutland here and his impact on guys with tools who need time to develop. I really like the Eagles 6th round pick in OT, Cam Williams from Texas. The history of coach Stoatland with developing guys like Jordan Mailata are well precedented. If this guy comes in hungry to learn and grow, this guy becomes Lane Johnson’s replacement at best. At worst he becomes a very talented backup swing tackle. It might take a few years, but I like the odds. I like this kid from Nebraska too on the DL. Not sure why people are down on day 3 picks.

Craig, it’s just a lot easier to hit on first or second day picks. Mailata was truly unique, an incredible athlete who just hadn’t played football. Lane Johnson was drafted fourth overall in the first round. I’m all for these third-say guys succeeding, but assuming a coach can turn any of them into a Hall of Fame level player is wishful thinking.

Exactly the point of your article Les is what i think that commenter is missing. Everyone views all these day 3 picks through a lens of the most optimistic potential outcomes when the reality is that 90 percent of them wont ever play a real snap in a game.
