I felt like I just watched Friday’s game again but with better goaltending.

It’s interesting seeing the response to the lack of ice time Michkov is getting under Tocchet vs the lack of ice time he got under Torts. Even allowing for him lacking a little fitness, his minutes seem very low.

As does his production – that same lack of top end fitness notwithstanding. And even TK hasn’t been as impactful as he used to be. At what point do we ask the questions about how Tocchet’s system’s plays to the strengths of the team’s top talent (although to be fair, Zegras does seem to be thriving in it).

The idea of a coach with Tort’s structure & accountability, but less of the tough love, sounds great – but are we back to the days of a coach making all his players play to a certain structure regardless of their strengths and weaknesses?

Interesting batch of stars, I would have fit Vladar in there but I can’t really argue with your choices. Let’s call it a four star game for without Vladar there are really no other stars, definitely not Sanheim. Great games by Andrae & Abols though. I didn’t foresee his pairing with Drysdale but it seemed to work. Maybe the size thing is overrated…
