Good column, Les. Count me as another fan who feels disappointed but also strangely relieved after yesterday’s loss. They need a fresh offensive scheme and playcalling. The health of the offensive line is a concern, particularly when it comes to the younger players you mentioned. With Lane Johnson, at this stage it wouldn’t be surprised if he called it a career, but if he’s healthy and willing I would like to see him back next year.

Thanks, Sam

Excellent column! All your takes as a reporter/fan are well-taken and shared sentiments with most of us rabid fans. I especially appreciate your relief point, because I definitely feel it, too. A good pal of mine likened it to the better feeling you have after throwing up, as many of us felt sick to our stomach all game (and all season). Gross imagery but an apt metaphor.
Jeff and Howie have some hard decisions to make, but their track record inspires some confidence, thankfully.

Count me in the not surprised and relieved category. I watched this last game with a sense of dread from the opening kickoff. Considering what we have seen from Jalen is it not fair to conclude he has regressed? To me that is clear. I very rarely hear an assessment of why this has occurred. The closest we seem to get to an explanation on Jalen‘s play people pontificating that he doesn’t like to do this and he’s not comfortable doing that. I have never heard him discussing his preferences. Has anyone considered his play is 100% dictated by his coaches. Not running, avoiding turnovers, surviving for the next play (until there isn’t a next play), don’t throw into difficult windows, or off schedule throws. These are all from Nick’s core beliefs. Seems to me likely that when you strip away the traits that make Jalen dangerous, you are left with the shell we have been watching all year. There are many examples of other QB’s who are ineffective until we get coaching that unlock s what makes them special. Two current examples that come to mind would be Caleb Williams and Sam Darnold. With new coaching, specifically a new head coach, with a new strategic perspective they very likely can come out from underneath the malaise they have been suffering under for to long.

Count myself and my wife as relieved that it is over. I just couldn’t take a 20th week of watching this dreck.
I agree Les with your points about Hurts. I don’t really care about what you are uncomfortable doing. What I do know is your way got your team bounced in the Wildcard round AT HOME.
AJ needs to decide whether he wants to be a top wideout like he professes to be or a social media maven. Work on the hands #11 and come back interested in playing.
Nick needs to be told to take his offense playbook and throw it in the trash. The next OC with interference being run by Howie Roseman tells Siranni hands off. The only decision he needs to make next year is on 4th down “lets punt”.

Lestrodamus; I love it.
Agree with everything. What worries me is even with Patullo gone….will we run Nick’s scheme?
I laughed out loud at one of the super chats “So Nick can’t scheme guys open, can’t call plays, can’t choose good coordinators, makes head scratching decisions mid game and can’t keep his Temper…..what does he do well again? What is it you say you do here? “
