An Eagles team searching desperately for answers is unlikely to find enough of them in a short practice week that ends in a visit from the Los Angeles Rams. Especially if either DeVonta Smith (hamstring) or Zack Baun (concussion) can’t play.
That’s my thinking after taking a few days to mull the team’s Monday Night Meltdown against the Chicago Bears, and after hearing Nick Sirianni, his coordinators, and several players reflect on where the team stands.
This is not the hottest of takes. I am aware. But I listened to the interviews, thinking I might hear some talk of simple adjustments, “we’re so close to getting this right”-type stuff – nope. Honestly, some of the answers sounded like what you might expect to hear in early August.

If you thought the Eagles had issues, wait till you see what the Flyers did! TBH I’m surprised that Howie hasn’t fixed the safety position. Yet. There seem to be options for them, but they don’t seem to want to pull the trigger. Puzzling. Good stuff as always, Les.

Thanks, Dan. Flyers looked a bit better against the Devils, but they, too, needed more from their offseason, I fear.

Never thought I’d be missing Patullo

Let’s not go crazy here, Ira!

Well said, Les. I expected the offense to take some time to adjust to the new scheme, but so far the defense has been the bigger disappointment to me (relative to expectations). I wasn’t happy with losing Nakobe Dean during the offseason, but was not expecting the defense to fall off this much. I am hoping that Howie will make some sort of move in the near future to address the safety position.
