For the first time in Philadelphia Union history, a pair of former homegrown players clashed in a top-five European league.

Brenden and Paxten Aaronson met on Saturday as Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Union Berlin 3-0 in German Bundesliga action. Brenden played seven minutes off the bench while Paxten played the final five minutes for the visitors.

It marked the first head-t0-head showdown between the two brothers in competitive play.

Omar Marmoush’s first-half brace propelled Eintracht Frankfurt into a 2-0 lead before Nacho Ferri iced the road result at 3-0 with eight minutes to play.

Both Aaronson’s entered the match in the final moments, with Paxten and Eintracht Frankfurt claiming a convincing three points. The Super Eagles moved one point behind the top-six while Union Berlin’s league struggles continued.

Brenden and Paxten both excelled during their time with the Union, before earning European transfers of their own. The New Jersey duo have also represented the U.S. men’s national team, with Paxten three years younger than his brother Brenden.

Both players will resume their European schedules this week with Brenden and Union Berlin visiting Napoli in UEFA Champions League.

Paxten and Eintracht Frankfurt visit HJK Helsinki in Europa Conference League action.
