Jesus Bueno enjoyed his most productive season yet with the Philadelphia Union in 2023 and the Venezuelan was rewarded with a new, long-term contract because of it.

Bueno was signed by the Union on Friday through the 2026 MLS season, the club announced. His contract also includes a club option for 2027.

“Jesus’ growth and development over the last two seasons is a testament to his work ethic and potential,” said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. “He has proven to be an important piece to our midfield; aggressive and advantageous in our transition on attack. We’re happy to be able to reward him with a new contract.”

After originally joining the club in 2021, Bueno had to wait until 2023 to truly make his mark. He made a career-high 24 appearances (10 starts) across all competitions, scoring two goals and adding three assists.

Bueno featured heavily for Union II during the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro campaign.

His impressive season helped Bueno earn his first senior call up to the Venezuelan National Team during August’s World Cup Qualifying schedule. He subsequently earned a second call up in October, alongside fellow Union teammate Jose Martinez.

The Union’s busy offseason work continues ahead of the 2024 season, which will include involvement in the revamped CONCACAF Champions Cup.
