Sean Couturier may have returned to action to start the 2023-24 season after missing nearly a season and a half due to two back surgeries.
But it remained an open question whether he truly would be back, in the sense of being the player he was before his NHL career ground to a halt.
After all, Couturier was 30 years old when the season began, going on 31.
