I thought the Islanders goal in the 2nd was clearly on Laughton. He let the puck pass him by & ignored the play to go “protect” Johnson in the corner. Yet he still gets half the 3rd period. Good thing the coach doesn’t play favorites.

Absolutely agree. I messaged Charlie about this during the second intermission. If Laughton did not willingly take himself out of the play to “protect” Johnson, the TK turnover does not happen because Laughton would have been in the right spot for that clear/pass. One thing I noted was that I do love the culture building and think it is extremely important for this style of rebuild to work. However, during Game 76 you cannot take yourself out of a play in your own defensive zone when your team has been hemmed in all period to “protect” a player for a seemingly questionable hit (it was not a dirty hit). If it were Game 22 and he did that, you can live with it. But the awareness of the game situation and the importance of the game for the playoff push should have been paramount to “protecting” Johnson.

Side tangent, he did not even “protect” him. He skated over to Pageau, did not touch him, then whined to the refs after the goal. Just unacceptable stuff, imo.

I am dead. Can we put that on a PHLY tee shirt?

Best press conference I think I’ve ever watched. Without a shadow of a doubt this team’s trajectory is exciting!
