After a shaky first 20 minutes that saw Sam Ersson surrender a pair of goals, the new goalie stepped in! Ivan Fedotov made his NHL debut, beginning the middle frame in relief with Philly trailing 2-1.
Jamie Drysdale also returned to the lineup tonight, and it seems like those events should be the energy boost this dragging Flyers club needs to get back in the win column after 4 straight losses.
Noah Cates got the Flyers on the board in the 1st period, but the Islanders scored back-to-back goals in a span of 18 seconds. Sanheim netted a goal in the 2nd to tie it 2-2, but Anders Lee’s goal made it 3-2 late in the 2nd period. Morgan Frost’s game-tying goal with 9.6 seconds left sent the game to OT and gave the Flyers a much-needed point amidst a tight playoff race. Yet Frost and Drysdale’s costly turnover in OT allows the Islanders to escape with a 4-3 win in OT.
