PHILADELPHIA -- Hockey season has officially returned to Philadelphia. And the Flyers celebrated its return with style.
While the big story in the lead-up to puck drop was the home preseason debut of one Matvei Michkov, goaltender Sam Ersson ended up sharing the stage with the 19-year old rookie, shutting out the New York Islanders and leading his team to a 2-0 victory. Michkov was not quiet either, though, scoring a goal and an assist to ensure that his first game at the Wells Fargo Center would indeed be remembered.
