This time last year, the Philadelphia Flyers were just a few games into a surprisingly strong start in what turned out to be a surprising competitive season.
In fact, it was so surprising that after seven games, there were still plenty of doubters, despite the club's strong 4-2-1 record. The offense wasn't deep enough, the skeptics contended. The blueline corps is thin and lacking established, consistent puck-movers, they noted. And more than anything else, it's a team in the midst of a rebuild, focused on developing young players in key roles.
