PHILADELPHIA -- Connor McDavid got the better of the United States on Thursday night. He couldn't replicate the trick against the Philadelphia Flyers two days later, though.
The Flyers stymied McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers in the first game since the 4 Nations Face-Off (won by Canada via an OT goal by McDavid), and ultimately cruised to a 6-3 victory. Owen Tippett scored twice for the Flyers, while his linemates Matvei Michkov and Sean Couturier both finished with three points (one goal, two assists) each.
Sam Ersson made 15 saves on 18 shots in his first NHL game since shining for Team Sweden in his one 4 Nations appearance, while Stuart Skinner made 26 saves in defeat.
