When the Sixers signed Joel Embiid to a big-money extension last fall, the medical picture was as clear as it was going to get for a 30-year-old big with an extensive injury history. By all accounts, the worst-case scenario has unfolded between September and now. Embiid has struggled to stay on the floor, and he has been a shell of himself even when he has played.
Sunday, Embiid sat out of the Sixers' practice session ahead of Monday's meeting with the Bulls, with head coach Nick Nurse delivering a frank assessment of where things stand.
"He's not moving nearly as well as he was," Nurse told reporters. "[We were] hoping maybe some conditioning, rhythm, that kind of stuff would get that going...
