After 28 minutes of play, the Philadelphia Flyers held a 3-0 lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins, and looked poised to cruise to a second win in three nights over their rival, and their fourth straight overall.
Then, it all came apart.
Pittsburgh fought back in the second half of the contest, ultimately tying the game in the third period and winning it 5-4 in overtime, courtesy of two Evgeni Malkin goals. Matvei Michkov and Erik Karlsson both posted two-goal, three-point nights for their respective clubs, while Owen Tippett and Noah Cates also lit the lamp for the Flyers.
