After long layoff, Andrew Painter returns to mound in Clearwater

Andrew Painter is officially back.
The Phillies' top prospect, and the seventh-best prospect in all of baseball according to MLB Pipeline, made his 2025 debut on Friday night for the Clearwater Threshers. Painter lasted just 1.1 innings but managed to strike out three Daytona Tortugas while walking one. The lone walk was the final hitter he faced, before Painter was pulled for 2024 19th-round pick Erik Ritchie. Painter threw 37 pitches, 21 for strikes, and his fastball topped out at 98 miles per hour.
