Howie Roseman, who had traded up in four of the previous five NFL drafts, stayed put Thursday night, letting the board come to him.
Come to him? The first round of the draft didn’t just come to the Eagles’ general manager; it jumped up in his lap like a lovesick Labrador Retriever and demanded that he rub its jowls.
“It’s not normally my nature to do that, you know,” Roseman reminded reporters at the end of the evening, after he somehow was able to hold firm at 22nd overall and snag Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo, widely acclaimed as the draft’s best cornerback.
