Bowen: Eagles' right guard opening might be beckoning to (Mekhi) Becton

When the Eagles signed Mekhi Becton in April, the fan and media thinking was, “Oh, OK, here’s the new swing/backup tackle, with Jack Driscoll and Sua Opeta having left in free agency.”
In OTAs, though, Becton was given a chance to compete with 2023 third-round pick Tyler Steen for the starting right guard spot. An ankle injury has kept Steen out of training camp practice so far this week, and Becton could be on his way to changing the narrative.
“He’s all in. There are certain plays that really pop off on the film, with some of the stuff he can do, his attributes,” right tackle Lane Johnson told reporters Thursday, before the team headed onto Lincoln Financial Field for the public practice.
