Well, not quite new, given Erik Johnson's presence on the Flyers' roster over the final five weeks of the 2023-24 season. But you get the point.
Prior to the official start of unrestricted free agency on July 1, general manager Daniel Briere and the Flyers agreed to terms with Johnson -- acquired for a 2024 fourth round pick at the 2024 trade deadline -- on a one-year, $1 million contract extension.
