Nearly 40 minutes had passed in the second game of the Philadelphia Flyers' season. New Flyers No. 1 defenseman Travis Sanheim -- fresh off a 26:17 minute standout performance two nights earlier in Columbus -- expertly intercepted a pass from Ottawa star forward Brady Tkachuk, seemingly ending any Ottawa offensive threat with ten seconds remaining in the period.
And then came the dreaded lapse.
Sanheim probably should have just skated the puck into the corner. Or reversed it back to his partner. Or even sent it off the glass and out of the zone.
