RISP. Those four letters have become less of an acronym in the early part of the Phillies season and more of a cringeworthy four-letter profanity.
Entering Thursday’s series finale against the visiting San Francisco Giants, Rob Thomson's club was 31-for-155 this season when batting with Runners In Scoring Position. That’s just a .200 average, and it went a long way towards negating any new plate approach the Phillies were implementing this season.
