Since the start of the offseason, one prevailing sentiment in this space has been that an offensive lineman is the likeliest first-round pick for the Eagles. This is a deep draft class of offensive tackles, and the Eagles like to plan ahead on their roster. Lane Johnson is entering his age 34 season and has missed time in every season since 2015. An argument could be made that right guard is the Eagles' biggest need on the roster, so a tackle with guard flexibility would address the immediate and long-term needs. And the Eagles' roster-building strategy prioritizes the lines of scrimmage, where Howie Roseman has already invested three first-round picks during his tenure.
