Les, as always great writing. My take away fro your article is the paragraph where you list Hurt’s shortcomings. I am very concerned about that. They are the weaknesses that were listed in his draft profile and here we are 5 years later and they are still his weaknesses.

That shows me one of two things. He can’t make those corrections or he is absolutely stubborn that he won’t work on them. His narrow minded focus to being comfortable with one guy inhibits this offenses capabilities.

Why does Dallas Goedart disappear from games at a stretch?
Is it even possible that Devonta Smith only gets 1 catch a game?

Hurts narrow minded focus on his fellow playmakers is like he only trusts 1 guy per game and as a result DC’s see this. DC’s are not stupid and it seems like Hurts plays into their hands time and again.

Less, there is a reason I always read what you write. Maybe because you have nothing to lose you are not afraid to speak the truth. And your takes were just very sensible about the OC search. Hopefully they do find someone who’s really good but I think, as you put it, the pearl clutching is more about people who need to have daily hot takes to keep themselves relevant and less about a rational analysis.
