Agree 100% Les!
James Crean
Sweat didn’t toss Thurney into Mahomes on the Dejean pick 6, that play was the Baun int.
Yatin Patel
yes. that was a terrible mistake, especially by someone who re-watched the game yesterday
Les Bowen
Seriously? “A terrible mistake”?
Kahlief Steele
This calls for a public flogging. Sorry, Les, but disgusting mistakes like this can’t go unpunished.
Michael Moffitt
Ignore them Les. Did you know Brady calling Jalen Hurts “Hurts” all game but was calling Patrick Mahomes “Patrick”? It went on and on and on. That….is a terrible mistake.
Les Bowen
Yep. Thanks. Very sorry for the mistake.
Steve Eager
The reference to Gretzky is wrong. He was and is on TNT analyzing Stanley Cup games and he is very good at it.
Les Bowen
I’ve never seen Greyzky in a booth. He sits on postgame panels, which is not at all what I was talking about. As I think you probably know.
sean tlm
“The second time in LIX years” got a laugh from me. Good read, Les!
Les Bowen
Thanks much!
Michael Erler
I think Burkhardt and Brady were trying to spin a comeback narrative that wasn’t to be a bit too hard, but in fairness to them we’ve seen Mahomes do it so many times before and the Eagles offense wasn’t humming on all cylinders that game. I still don’t think Brady was as bad as Collinsworth, who apparently felt that Ertz needed to take five steps with the ball before crossing the goalline for a completion to count instead of merely the four steps Ertz took in reality.
Les Bowen
Yeah, Collinsworth pretty much disliked every touchdown catch the Eagles made that game.
Truth is, we HAVEN’T seen Mahomes come back from 34-0 in the Super Bowl, or anything close to that. But more to the point, so much of the commentary was through a KC lens.
Dan
You’re right, Les. They were prepping to put the crown on KC’s head before the coin flip. And for some reason, I’ll never guess, they ignored the evidence of their own eyes. The Eagles boat-raced that team and that should have been the talking point. They were too busy waiting on KC to make a “comeback” while the Eagles were handing them their heads. The Chiefs didn’t cross the 50 in the first half! That was an absolute butt-whipping. I’ll try to find the Westwood One radio coverage and see if it differs.
Tom Mosley
Great article!
Eric Jensen
Brady sucks. He constantly mixed things up and gets things wrong.
And I agree that they spent too much time talking about the Chiefs and not giving enough credit to the Eagles. It was an historic game that announcers will be referencing in future Super Bowls.
