I feel like the only thing that could make this game a cakewalk is that the Commanders are on their 4th straight road game, and are not prepared to block correctly without Cosmi. Fatigue and poor blocking would be huge for the Eagles. But if the Commanders o-line is able to withstand the loss of Cosmi, and the team isn’t fatigued, this game will go down to the 4th quarter. I feel like Eagles d-line can play contain and limit JD5 scrambles, similar to what the Eagles d-line did in 04 NFC Title game against Atlanta when they had Vick. JD5 is a better passer than Vick but Fangio has so much experience I’m sure he will throw some confusing reads at him, similar to what Spags did against Lamar in last year’s AFC title game.

I want to see the Eagles win and also win another Super Bowl, but this one has me filled with anxiety. For whatever reason over the past two years, the Commanders play a harder game against the Eagles than the rest of the NFC (East in particular). Perceived cakewalks turn into upsets and the Eagles wind up with key injuries to critical players (Goedert in 2023 and Hurts and GJGJ this year).
But a mostly healthy roster playing at home? Again, this is where upsets happen and Daniels doesn’t seem remotely nervous.

I keep feeling anxious too, JD5 and that roster are playing really well. But the Eagles aren’t turning it over 5 times like Detroit, and the experience factor, especially with the amount of players on this team that were in SB57, give me confidence. Also the loss to their oline of Cosmi is gonna lead to problems.

These are consistently the best previews I have read anywhere. The level of analysis and detail is unmatched.

Frankie Luvu scares me.
As always, great work, Fran.
