As I recall, in `21 and even `22, from mediocre to good QBs enjoyed career games against Jonathan Gannon’s Fangio-type defense. I saw something very similar last Sunday. To my untrained eye, the common factor was bend, bend, and break, i.e., short passes gaining 10-15 yards virtually unopposed. Incredibly bad tackling didn’t help, but this defense only seems to work when the other team gets stopped in the red zone and held to a FG try.
I don’t think you can win a championship with that approach.
