EJ – Great work! What you wrote: “the defensive performances since the bye week are preserving a path for the team to win ugly, low-scoring games.” I think we just saw the problem with this philosophy play out in real time: basically, with no running game to eat clock, the defense will eventually break down under the weight of too many snaps. The offense either needs to find a way to score points (duh!) or maybe even more attainably, control the clock. (No, I’m not advocating for more snaps with 2 secs on the clock) but finding some sort of ball control strategy or going the opposite and just going tempo out the gate seems to be at least one way the O can keep the D from being overused.
