Les, I know your job is to write articles and you are good enough at that to get paid to do it. And analysis is part of what you do. But, I am going to trust Howie’s draft decisions over yours. No offense, but he has had a great track record the last several years and obviously learned from his early mistakes. It has been a long enough time to move on from the Reagor pick, not as long as but similar enough to the throwing snowballs at the drunken fool playing Santa Claus that everyone likes to bring up. Howie is arguably the best GM in the game. I have tried to stop second guessing him.

Thanks. I didn’t bring up the Reagor pick to criticize Howie — my point was, most picks in that range fit in somewhere between Reagor, who was bad, and Michell, who is extraordinary.
I will say that this incredible recent draft record we all marvel over was forged mostly with higher picks (from 2021-24) than the Eagles had last year or this year.

I understand your point of view through the lens of the 2026 season. You are accurate in terms that Philly is great when the O-Line is great. I am getting the sense that this offensive overhaul is necessary. Sirianni entire offensive mantra is our players are better than yours and we can run simple schemes as a result. Should we have gotten to a place where the talent and the scheme fit the players better? Unequivocally yes but we are where we are if the AJ situation cannot be repaired.
That being said the kind of offense that we were running was not sustainable. We literally rode the O-line into the ground. A more pass oriented offense would do wonders and really tell you whether Hurts is “the guy” who can QB a functional offense or whether a change is needed there.
If AJ Brown does get traded for a 1st and let’s say that it ends up being in the teens then I would say the 2027 draft would put the Eagles in position to go get an OT. I am looking at 2026 as a “transition” year in which we will find out a lot of answers.

As always, Les, really enjoyed the article. Bonus points for the Dianna Russini/Mike Vrabel reference
