Outstanding as always, Les.
The only thing I can figure is they got burned the last time they pulled a coordinator late season, and just decided at that point to let it play out n clean house when the season was over.
I’m not angry anymore. I spent the last half of the year saying if the Eagles lost in the playoffs but fired Kevin Patullo I’d call that a win…

I would disagree that all the key elements of last year’s team were intact – they lost Becton (who was tremendous in the running game), and both Jurgens and Dickerson came into the season banged up. But I agree with your overall sentiment, and even taking into account what I said about the offensive line I expected more from the offense and the playcalling on that side of the ball left a lot to be desired. This season was a big missed opportunity. The only positive aspect to the first-round loss is having a better chance to find a good OC.
Les Bowen
Thanks Sam. On Becton, I would say he was better as a run blocker than Steen, worse as a pass blocker. I think we’d look at the season differently if they’d just let Dickerson and Jurgens heal, instead of running them out there to play poorly every week. Losing with backups is understandable.

Thanks for the response. I agree, and wonder how much of that was due to Dickerson and Jurgens wanting/pushing to play and not rest versus what the team wanted them to do.

Fantastic article, Les. You put into words exactly how this angry and sad Eagle’s fan is feeling after watching that train wreck of a seaso.
