Zach- I appreciate your level headed approach to this transaction.
While I grasp the money aspect of this, and I am in favor of reallocating this cash for signing your stars, have you seen anything tangible from Brown or Green that would lead you to believe that they can be competent starters ? Color me skeptical on this one. Thanks for all the writing, podcasting, and reporting !

Very fair points 💪🏽

I’m skeptical as well. It’s not my money, but if they’re not saving anything against the cap by moving on from a fiery guy who was on both superbowl defenses, i’m not thrilled about it. I also don’t understand why guys w little or no guaranteed money need a new contract when he was signed for 2 more years. I guess fr a player’s perspective, he can just be cut and then not earn the base salary?
Brendan Crowley
If he gets injured he just gets cut and earns nothing. No player is gonna risk life and limb if it means being unemployed – team needs to share the risk / reduce players exposure by ensuring they have some guaranteed money.
Mark Pleger
Hate it. No further comment.
Richard Spooner
I don’t like the move either, not one bit, but Zach explained the situation so clearly and so concisely that all I can say is we Eagles fans are fortunate to have Zach sharing his views with us — really very fortunate, indeed. .
James
Another banger ZB. Nailed it.
Tyler Niccolo
Great article ZB. I trust they can do something at Safety to make this feel better, but Im still not loving the return so far. Seems like everything I see about Green is pretty negative and they may have just traded a starter for a backup. In stoutland we trust though.

Thanks for the breakdown, Zach. I’m still not a fan of the deal since C.J. was a difference maker both in terms of his playmaking ability as well as the energy/attitude he brought to the defense in both seasons that he was in Philly. That said, with Howie’s track record I will give him the benefit of the doubt on this move. As you said, it’s too early to tell whether or not this was a good deal.
Megan
Agree with the level headed comments above; I appreciate the value ZB brings providing the points made for the move, but still absolutely hate this.
Eric Jensen
Hate this trade.

This is one of those situations where we try to talk ourselves into liking it – like a bad draft pick. Nope.
