In the wake of the Eagles‘ 24-22 season opening slog past the visiting Washington Commanders, there was one guy I wanted to hear from in the postgame locker room.
It wasn’t Jalen Hurts, Dallas Goedert, Quinyon Mitchell, Moro Ojomo, Jalen Carter, Riq Woolen or Zack Baun, all of whom made enormous plays that helped the home team narrowly escape an embarrassing loss.
I wanted to hear from Landon Dickerson. I wanted to know that the Eagles’ left guard was physically OK. I wanted him to explain that he was just rusty and indecisive, that he was still learning the new blocking scheme and would master it, given more time on task.

Sadly, it seems that Dickerson’s injuries have caught up to him. I don’t expect him to return to his pre-2025 form, but in order for the line to succeed (allowing for some adjustment to the new blocking scheme) he will need to play better than he did Sunday and last season. If he doesn’t, I’m not sure what the answer is (perhaps Kendall or Lampkin, but I don’t know much about either’s skillset).
