McCown was the 3rd string qb and only played because Sudfeld was inactive for reasons I can’t recall. He also tore his hamstring off the bone in that game and played through it – it remains one of the most impressive, gutsiest, and admirable performances I’ve ever seen, numbers and results be dammed.

It was a gutsy but ineffective performance. McCown was too old, ready to start his coaching career, not really physically capable of winning a playoff game. My point was more about the need to have a backup who can win.
