Demotion of Emil Andrae makes Flyers a weaker team, and remains difficult to understand

If you ask John Tortorella, the decision by the Philadelphia Flyers to send 22-year rookie defenseman Emil Andrae down to the AHL on Thursday night shouldn't inspire much in the way of discussion or outrage. For him, it's simple and straightforward.
"I’m gonna tell you all right now, it’s not that complicated in our decision making. This is the right thing to do for him," Tortorella said on Saturday morning. "There’s no secret stuff going on to get him through Christmas break. He needs to go down and play, because there’s been some struggles in his game."
