Entering the 2024-25 season, the Philadelphia Flyers were one of only two NHL teams — along with the Utah Hockey Club — that didn’t have advertisements on their helmets.
On Wednesday, they joined the other 30 clubs, officially announcing a partnership with the Local Chevrolet Dealer group that made Chevrolet the team’s new helmet partner.
“Chevrolet is a historic brand, known for its toughness, reliability, and strength,” said Todd Glickman, Chief Revenue Officer, Comcast Spectacor. “These are all qualities that define the Flyers team and organization, and we are thrilled to be partnering with such a renowned brand at every home and away game.”
This isn’t the first that the Flyers have placed advertisements on their helmets. During the 2020-21 season — the first in the wake of the global pandemic that cut the 2019-20 campaign unexpectedly short for all NHL clubs — the league first permitted helmet ads, and the Flyers linked up with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Since then, most clubs have continued the process, but the Flyers and TCS did not renew their partnership. The Flyers added a jersey logo partnership with Independence Blue Cross for their home jerseys back in 2023, but since 2021, their helmets have been ad-less ever since. Until Wednesday, that is, when the Chevrolet logo will adorn their helmets against the Carolina Hurricanes.
As Glickman noted, the advertisements will appear on both the team’s black home helmets (with white font) and their road whites (in black font). The partnership also includes digital signage for Chevrolet inside the Wells Fargo Center, and a physical display on the concourse.
And they’ll be here to stay.
