PHILADELPHIA -- It was a save that a week ago, perhaps Sam Ersson doesn't make.
With the seconds ticking down in a tight 2-1 game on Thursday night, the Philadelphia Flyers by their head coach's own admission were running around in their own zone. St. Louis defenseman Justin Faulk took control of the puck after a failed Flyers clear, and found a wide-open Brayden Schenn in the slot for a picture-perfect redirect shot right on net.
But the red light did not flash to signify a tie game. Ersson was there to slam the door, with a minor assist to Travis Sanheim, who ensured the puck stayed under his goalie.
"I kind of picked it up at the last second there," Ersson admitted.
