On Thursday, the Philadelphia Flyers' 2024-25 season unofficially officially begins.
No, it's not the first game of the season, nor even technically the first day of training camp. But for the fans, rookie camp is the start of a new campaign. It's when players hit the ice for formal drills and activities, and the month-long lead-up to puck drop begins.
It's also when the main storylines of the season begin to emerge. It's when young players can begin their pushes for roster spots, or at least make positive early impressions on the staff that linger well into the actual season.
