ALLENTOWN -- The city of Allentown isn't often associated with hope.
It's a town overshadowed by the two far larger Pennsylvania cities that sandwich it on opposite ends of the state. The song best associated with it is a lament on the decline of the American working class. And for Philadelphia Flyers fans this summer, Allentown basically became a punch line due to Alexei Kolosov's rumored distaste for the locale during his six-week stint with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in April and May.
But for at least one warm night in mid-September, Allentown was also the home for unbridled hope on the part of Flyers fans, in the form of one precocious 19-year old Russian.
