The Philadelphia Flyers' playoff chances were extinguished long ago. On Thursday night, their 2024-25 season was extinguished as well.
Falling behind 4-1 in the second period, the Flyers stormed back to cut the deficit to one goal on two separate occasions, but ultimately fell in their season finale to the Buffalo Sabres by a 5-4 final score. With the loss, Philadelphia locked down the fourth-worst record in the NHL, giving them the fourth-highest odds in the May 5 draft lottery, which will determine positions 1-16 in June's NHL Draft and will be crucial to the team's future.
