Shaw has proven his point: He is worthy to be named their new head coach for next year. DB needs to get this done right now, and then IR the top five players the last four games and make sure they lose out. Poehling has to be one of the IR, for whatever reason can by thought up. He is like Grimes for the Sixers, standing in the way of the main goal of garnering a top four draft pick to gain the greatest probability of finding that critical elusive 1-C to partner with Michkov the next decade, to cement the foundation of this rebuild. Pieces can be found around this tentpole a lot easier than getting a stud young 1-C. Has to happen and now is the moment. Don’t screw it up DB. Opportunities like this are extremely rare. Cash in.

The critical tentpoles for the rebuild have to be 1-C first, then 1-G and 1-D. If they can lose out, they should be in position to fill 1-C with their own 1st round draft pick. Either Misa or McQueen fit the bill. Hagens is a bit too small IMO, McQueen is intriguing, skilled and big. With their next first round pick, they should be able to land the top goalie prospect in the draft, Ravensbergen. With all the second rounders, DB should be able to package them with their first rounders, if needed, to trade up for one of these two top players. Then go for 1-D in next year’s draft, or a clever trade like they did to get Dejardins or Timmonen. If they can lose out, the path is there for major steps forward in this rebuild.

Shaw’s Flyers win again Saturday, blowing a fabulous draft opportunity for an elite 1-C. DB should be fired on the spot for GM malpractice. Culture and meaningless wins do not acquire the elite talent that is desperately needed. Brutal. I think the jury is back, DB is another junior GM, a Jeff Carson from the movie Draft Day, a Matt Klentak that was an experiment that went very wrong for Phils, a clueless amateur GM.
