Amidst all the polemic and handwringing about tanking and rebuilding, it was so refreshing to just watch a FUN hockey game.
This was the best I have seen the Flyers play (against an admittedly bad team) with really good passing and creative playmaking. The physicality and extra-curricular activities were an added bonus – that was almost a playoff-series type of intensity.
While the rational part of me thinks it wont be a bad thing for them to miss the playoffs and get a high pick, the hockey fan in me misses seeing the Flyers in a playoff series.

Also, is it my imagination or has Drysdale started to look a little more confident with the puck atleast offensively, the past few games (I didnt watch the Dallas game)? I realize his defense is still a work in progress, but he’s looked a little more assertive with his skating and passing recently – and played really well today.

I try not to personally dislike professional athletes since they’re just people doing a job (even as annoying as a guy like Brad Marchand can be on the ice), but this Cutter Gauthier guy truly is a weasel. First ghosting the team that drafted him, then making a big deal about having the game in Anaheim “marked on his calendar”, stating before the game “oh, if only people knew what really happened” when the only one preventing people from knowing what happened is HIM, to being completely invisible on the ice and wilting like a little flower when challenged, and finally to after the game saying “I’ll do what’s best for me” and somehow blaming the media for being the most hated man in Philly hockey circles. I think we dodged a bullet getting rid of this guy before we found out what a weak-willed punk he is. End rant.

I agree. I can -kinda- understand if athletes don’t want to play for a team and make it known before they are drafted. But to get drafted and spurn the team that has made a high investment in you, and then act like a martyr about it and top it up with “I’ll do what’s best for me”? That’s NOT the Hockey Way. I’d dislike him regardless of which team he did it to.
And he is soft as hell. Compare that to Michkov, who was giving it back to Gudas when challenged.
He’s one player i am definitely rooting for to have a mediocre career.

Charlie I’m sorry I forget about the whole “why are fans mad” part of the columns. I can always give you some crazy thing I’m mad about

This was the most fun I’ve had watching the Flyers in years. Just a wire-to-wire party. If only Cutter could play for all 31 other teams.
