Get Michkov a better C, add Martone to his line and suddenly, this team doesn’t look half bad at all.
A PP QB D-man is the other missing piece. They don’t need an All Star – just someone who can produce in 3rd pair minutes and run the PP. That’s a trade away.
That better C is gonna be tricky.
John Cilingin
They are tied 5th in the league in points %, is that worse than half bad?
guadzilla
A bit of understatement and a bit of acceptance that good structure can help you outperform your talent level.
They are the Hufflepuffs of the league – winning by structure and hard work. You can see that there isn’t a lot of creativity in their offensive zone play outside of Zegras – that’s not really a recipe for sustained playoff success.
So yeah, they look good but also have some big weaknesses, regardless of their points %.

Seems to me counterintuitive that such a young team would have slow starts.
I would think older veteran teams would take a little while to get going in the long season

Wonder where the Zeev Fan Club is today after he failed to prevent the pass on that Michkov/Brink 2-on 1
trebor
Stupid comment…. Zeev should have been the pick over our future 3C in Jett.

Interesting crystal ball you have there to know how a 19 year old child’s development is going to pan out.
trebor
Not a crystal ball. He is the next Laughts only w speed.
To think you’re dogging on Zeev while Jett’s D+2 season on a better team is just more of the same. He doesn’t shoot the puck… he is a 4th liner as a D+2 on the WCJr team.
Zeev is already in the NHL and has as may goals as Jett.
You don’t need a crystal ball to know he was the wrong pick from the moment GMDB made the pick.
David LaVeck
Slow start for sure but luckily they were able to right the ship. Some good games by our top end players, a good sign heading into the new year!
