Tippett is best suited to a team which plays more of a rush-based offense and has more talent blue-liners, who arent just got at making sensible outlet passes to clear the zone, but who can make more aggressive passes to spring him for a breakaway.

It’s no coincidence that he looks the best when he gets headmanned the puck with a little bit of space to operate. And he’s mostly invisible when he’s playing along the boards.

Jesus.

*Talented, not talent
*”Good at”, not “got at”

The players with the highest ceilings on this team, like Tippett and Michkov, do not fit in Tocchet’s system. At all. This is what concerned me about the hire when the Flyers first made it; it’s taking players who thrive in a creative, offensively-minded environment and forcing them into a boring, inflexible, defensive style– hence Tocchet’s ongoing sabotage of Michkov’s development. Only 12:46 of ice time? Come on, coach.

I agree with this. It is patently obvious watching Tocchet trying to convert a bunch of small skilled guys into 3rd line grinders.

What is worse than the minutes is his shifts, only 16, tied for 2nd lowest of the season. Tocchet punished both Michkov & Barkey last night by hanging the Rangers game on them. He sat them in an effort to stay in the playoff race barely. Player development be damned as you stated.

Also, this would have been such a fun playoff style game – TK and Wilson jawing at each other was brilliant. And i couldnt tell who it was, but whoever came flying up the ice and tried to punch Wilson after his hit on TK? Good on ya, bud.

If a team trading us a true top-6 Center wants Tippett in the package there better not be a hesitation. When he’s on he really is amazing, but it is what it is.

Foerster, Tippett, TK, York, Drysdale…. any of them should be on the table for a 1C.

This is how I feel but for all the wingers. Briere has to get the best return he can if that mean Tippett, Foerster, Martone, heck even Michkov if the C is good enough. It’s unlikely someone good enough to justify the last 2 will happen but they need to add talent.

I suspect Tippett would be excellent in the playoffs. I’d guess he just isn’t motivated enough for the long regular season to be consistent. He just hasn’t gotten a chance to be in the playoffs to show his stuff, size, speed and wicked shot. That’s probably going to change next year.

Don’t trade him Flyers, he’s undervalued, unless it’s as part of a trade for an absolute top tier Center talent

I saw Brink go up the tunnel in the Wild game last night, got hit and fell awkwardly into the boards. Hope he’s ok.

Fantastic post game quote from Konecny on Brink

I would not trade tippet for anything outside of a rantanen type package

Great team game which was mostly entertaining. The only concerning thing is that all this does is delay player development as long as they are in the race. Still, I can’t root against them. You are speaking the truth about Tippett, I have come back full circle on now wanting to keel him which probably means that he is gone. They need to move out Andrae for Jiricek at least and it probably does come down to Tip or Foerster on who stays and who goes. Tip is a better skater but Foerster is the better shooter. I would probably trade the one with the higher return which is probably Tip at the moment.

Foerster is the young, big, sniping winger we need, why would you want to get rid of him?
and…
all the bitching about Dvorak… he’s our fourth line vet center during the Cup runs. I’ve said it before, let the boys grow to be men together! The most frustrating thing for me to watch is how our ‘kids’ get shrugged off by Men. Grow the Culture.
also,
We are now collectors of others castoff high draft picks. Look at the young talent BUF has put together. The league is littered with flyer prospects we gave up on too soon.
