Great coverage of the camp! Thanks, Charlie.
Matthew Segal
Just great stuff Charlie! I think it’s best for Martone to join McKenna at Penn State. I still think he’s a future Star. Really excited for Bump!
Patrick Nichols
Awesome stuff, thank you!!

Flyers sure do love players who can’t skate which isn’t ideal for the sport they play.
Anthony Berger
Except they’ve had success fixing skating. If a player had a flaw id prefer it in a skill that can be improved with strength and training. You cannot teach size, hockey sense, or athleticism. Look at nesbitt, or Forester. These guys have pure natural skill and athleticism. Just needed refinement on skating, Forester looks good for being drafted with a serious flaw in skating.
Derrick Stagliano
Couturier was also considered a below average skater, which that and mono was the only reason he fell to #8 for the Flyers to draft. The Flyers organization seems to have a knack for fixing skating issues with their prospects.
Michael Curran
Hockey IQ and Compete level are more important to the Front office.
The Flyers determine skating can be improved.
All of these kids have something that needs to be fixed but IQ and compete level can’t be. You have it or you don’t.
Wesley Rusk
Well done sir. Thank you

Thank you, Charlie. This is The Good Stuff and why I have been a subscriber since you first joined The Athletic. No one does it better.

Super article. I’ve been jonesing for a camp review – this hits the spot perfectly.
On a slightly tangential note – I have always thought the Flyers have done a decent job developing their prospects. Quite a few of their picks seem to have become serviceable NHL players.
But then I was going through the list and actually, the results aren’t as great as I thought, in terms of finding upper half of the roster players. After TK, I’d say Sanheim is the last early pick who has arguably outperformed his draft status. And Noah Cates. That’s not a lot.
Briere seems to have retained a fair bit of the previous scouting team – I am curious as to how much things are going to change now with (potentially?) a different drafting philosophy at the helm.
Michael Curran
The hope is in the development guys that replaced the previous regime.
guadzilla
I actually thought that the previous regime did a pretty good job of developing the prospects that came up to the minors, atleast to a certain minimum level of threshold.
Was the failure to find over-performers a talent issue or draft issue – that remains to be seen.
Let’s hope this set of coaches is able to unearth that next layer of abilities.

Best development camp coverage that I have ever seen, well done, Charlie! The videos especially complemented your writing.
Alex Ettinger
Excellent coverage and commentary. Excited about a wide variety of prospects (size, skill, speed, physicality).
This article is worth the cost of the monthly membership.

Excellent article thank you Charlie. It’s exciting that there are so many center prospects in the pipeline and now we just have to hope they hit
Michael McAllister
Heck yeah, this rules.
