I always enjoy your writing, Charlie, you are a main reason I joined this site. Your evaluation leads me to believe that the best course of action is to trade the pick. I don’t know for who, but I don’t want to draft another Jack Nesbitt or Cam York. I think a swing for a higher ceiling player is a smart risk this draft.

Charlie do you think that in the coming weeks Villeneuve sees a bump simply because Carolina proved that with the right deployment you can win a cup with an offense only defensemen (Ghost)? Also if he turns into a 3rd pair guy but he can run the PP1 is that worth the first round pick to you?

So is Villenueve “Ghost like”? I don’t know seems like Carolina got Ghost to fit where the Flyers couldn’t. Maybe get it right this time? Anything to help this wretched PP seems like it’s worth it to me.

Im loco for Soko. Just because he’s a project at 21, doesn’t make him a reach at 21. Plus, since he’s already in NA you can have your fingers all over his development. If we ain’t moving the pick, which I’m fine with, give me Soko over another high floor center.

I have no preferences or #21 – am not an analyst nor do i play one in the movies.

But the Flyers do have a type here:
– younger, so with a greater runway for development
– high compete
– one high end attribute (vision, skating, shot)

Great primer on the Flyers options at 21! I am not familiar with any of these draft prospects so this is very helpful. There are certainly some good options that you listed, even the giant Sokolovskii, who is intriguing. I will try to remember to look back on this during and after the draft.

Thanks for the deep dive, Charlie.

I’m going to the draft party, but it will be pretty boring unless we make a trade!

Charlie,

Listened to your podcast where you listed the elements of Carolina’s team that involved not having this or that and they won the Cup. You should list it on the site for the fans who INSIST the Flyers should have…

Charlie – if you had to list over the years the 3 prospects you were most “right” about – and also the 3 prospects you may have missed on – ideally going against the grain of popular opinion at the time – who would they be?

Love the show – listen every day from NoCal.
