Continuing a theme from yesterday’s post – with every game, i am starting to think that this system isn’t doing Michkov any favors. He’s been nearly invisible for pretty much all the games i have seen – when he has the puck on his stick with space, he’s able to do stuff, but that rarely happens.

I dont think he – or the rest of the players in the top 6 – are particularly suited to creating a lot of offense from along the boards, while being tightly checked. It may be a recipe for this Flyers team to hang with teams with more talent and win a few more games than they would otherwise deserve, but i dont know that it develops the creativity and talent of players like Michkov. Maybe prospects like Martone and Nesbitt may thrive under it better?

Polar opposite game from the night before, kind of. They trailed instead of lead which was the big difference but in the end as you mentioned the result was the same. Dare I say they have reverted back to the Flyers of old in the shootout? No tallies in two straight games against the same team is pretty weak as their attempts showed. I didn’t like any of them and they need to try the five hole at least once especially Michkov. Their breakaways in games have been equally poor as of late. Hopefully tonight will be better…
