Did any GM make a better off season trade in 2025 than Danny Briere’s trade for Trevor Zegras?

He’s done well with his moves so far- Sean Walker, Vladar and even Dvorak.

As an aside, Shabanov looked pretty good on the Isles yesterday – shame the Flyers couldn’t find a way to sign him.

I really don’t understand Ersson (and I disagree he the first star). It almost seems like he waits until the score is tie to play well. I don’t agree he looked great yesterday, he looked like a competent goalie – which isn’t always the case with him. But even on those nights he allows a distance shot he sees clearly with zero traffic in front of him get by. Without crap like that we don’t need him to stand on his head in the final minutes, OT and SO.

I guess my Ersson-fun meter is pegged and I’m ready to move on.

Ersson gives me flashbacks to Red Light Ron Hextall in the 90s – would make great saves and then give up a game-deciding goal on a slap shot from the blue line. It was a shame b/c i had a lot of love for Hexie as a player.

Yeah, I think this is coming from a place of bias. If Vladar had the exact same game, you wouldn’t have any issue with him being No. 1 star.

I agree that the trade for Zegras was a great move by Danny B. Just his presence in the shoot out has won us 5 games. What was a team that was as bad as it gets in prior years in the “skills competition” is now 5-0. Yes, TK score 1 yesterday but the whole feel and success of the team is bolstered by Z being here. And his overall skill is high level whether it is at C or the Wing. And, Dvorak has been a real good addition and Dan Vladar has been terrific. A top notch off season.

An added bonus is that the “Danny B is incompetent” crowd has finally had to stop talking.

As much as I have been down on Ersson the past two seasons you are justified in your praise of him. He allowed the Flyers a chance to earn some points and his shootout prowess gave them the win. Zegras is still a wizard. I wish that Michkov would have went five hole on his attempt as it was wide open. TK looked more like himself with a couple of primaries and a slick shootout game winner.

The TK primaries comment applies to the Devils game not this one. I blame the back to backs, I guess it affects posters as well. 😝
