I am excited about this offseason – for the first time in ages, the Flyers look like they are trending upwards.

Toch said the right stuff. Excited to see how everyone comes to camp.

They need a young stud 1-C and a young stud 1-D and it all should then line up for a perennial cup run. Looks like they got a 1-G in Vladar, so that is very good progress. Now, for the first time in a long time, they may have the resources to go out and acquire those other two key leadership players. Plenty of cap space, for the first time in ages, and Toronto’s unprotected first round pick in 2027, to go along with their own picks in 2026 and 2027, there is now a path to finding a 1-C and 1-D via trade, FA, draft, or some combination of all three. DB and Jonesy have the ammo, so it will be fascinating how they go about landing these two key players over the next year and a half. There is finally light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

Tocchet’s first season was almost a resounding success. On the whole, it was absolutely a success but there are some glaring weaknesses, most notably, the power play. His defensive system seemed to work well against most opponents, even the top end ones. The power play will be this team’s downfall until it is corrected. Had it of been a league average one, they probably would have lost in 6, since it was not they got swept. Also, both he and Michkov hopefully learned some valuable lessons this past season. If those mistakes are not repeated they should both be successful together. There is much optimism in Flyers land, I just hope that it is realized.
