Amazing writing as always Charlie, Coots isn’t the only one rising to the occasion!

Michkov is contributing next to nothing and maybe time for him to sit–Bump? Grundstrom?

I have been a fan since 1971 and have experienced what Charlie was describing in his article. The ups, downs, disappointments and heartbreaks I have lived through with my favorite local team. Last night’s game was like going back in time when teams feared to come into Philadelphia. I got choked up.
If Flyers hockey is back then there is no better way to re-emerge into the hockey world than to eliminate the Penguins, particularly in 4 straight. Crosby and Malkin are great players but I have despised the both of them and nothing I would enjoy more than to wipe those smug looks after their faces in a game 4 elimination.
Thank you Flyers for making it back to us fans. We never left you it was a family feud that made us spend time apart. Now finish this.
Go Flyers!
Kyle
This is really fun, isn’t it?

Great game, great write-up. Thanks, Charlie. It must be fun to write about the team when they’re playing like this.

I admit I was wrong about Tocchet. I had assumed his system was a way to get a below average team to punch about their weight and play respectable hockey – but he’s actually made this a really strong TEAM that is designed to do well in the playoffs. That makes the low-event regular season play a lot more tolerable.
The most exciting part about this playoff run is that it is from a team that is arcing upwards – unlike the past teams that were mired in mediocrity. And if this core is real, they aren’t as far away as we all feared, that whole 1C/1D chatter notwithstanding.

Your article captured the game perfectly as playoff hockey finally returned to Philadelphia, well done, Charlie! I especially enjoyed this line: “A rebirth of Philadelphia Flyers hockey, the way it once was and the way it looks like it is again!” It deserves the added exclamation point. You captured the tenor of the game and each moment that did make this game one that will live in Flyers lore forever.
