That 5-10 position of the draft is coming into focus.

Look, for the Flyers to ever become a perennial Stanley Cup contender, they must acquire a young 1-C, a young 1-D, and a young !-G elite talent. There is not path to these acquisitions for the team other than a miracle trade of the century fleecing of a dumb GM, or to pick these three talents in the top five positions of the draft. Maybe they could get lucky if they pick in the top 10 spots of the draft. It looks like the new coach overachieving phase of this weak roster is over and reality has returned. So, it behooves the leadership of this franchise to dive down into the top five spots of this coming draft to start the process of finding the key pillars for a future run at a cup. So, why not put Kosolov in goal for the rest of the season, with Errson backing him up, trade Vlader, and tank baby tank. Any GM can rebuild a team by attacking the fringes first, and worry about stud elites at the key spots later, but that dog don’t hunt. Rebuilds must start with the studs. Phils started recent rebuild with Wheeler and Harper. Eagles with Hurts. Sixers with Embiid. It has to start with the central piece, like they did when the traded a boatload for Lindros, which kick started the last successful rebuild for the Flyers. To me, Jones and DB are approaching this rebuild backwards. A bubble playoff run will not be the way to find elite talent. With this recent 6 game skid, build on it, tank into getting a 1-C, or 1-D in the 2026 draft.

The York-Torts situation is proving to have had no good guys. OK, he’s out of shape, but FREE MICHKOV. Time to see the positive side of sucking consistently for a top five draft choice. One last thing… why did Briere and Jones go along with Tocchet trying to win games at the expense of the rebuild this year?

Right, great question. Should have made Shaw the coach during development phase of the rebuild, where MM was thriving under his short tenure at the end of last year. Toch is who you pick once the roster is elite, not when you are still trying to get premium [players for an underwhelming roster.

You sum the game nicely here: “The Flyers’ score in this one is the same as Aleksei Kolosov’s save percentage on the day: zero point zero.” What a train wreck this team has become. The conductor of this train is the goaltending with the special teams right by their side. Once again the absence of Vladar is notable as without him in net this team has no confidence.
